Similar to athletic teams, an Individualized Education Plan  team (“team”) is comprised of persons who hold specific roles. A team generally includes the following individuals:

  1. Parents of the child with the disability
  2. At least one of the child’s general education teachers
  3. At least one of the child’s special education teachers or providers
  4. A representative of the local educational agency
  5. An individual who can interpret the instructional implications of the child’s evaluation results
  6. Other individuals who have knowledge or special expertise regarding the child, and
  7. Where appropriate, the child.

The team meets on an annual basis, or more frequently if needed, in order to develop, review and revise an individualized education plan (IEP) that is designed to allow a child with a disability to access the general education curriculum.
