Massachusetts Personal Injury Attorney: Frequently Asked Questions

How soon after an accident should I contact at attorney?

Call me immediately. Do not talk to the other person’s insurance company until after you have consulted a lawyer. I make a point of returning all calls and e-mails promptly. If you have been injured in an accident, it is important to have your attorney begin his investigation before evidence is lost and witnesses disappear. We can also help you understand what insurance coverage may be available to cover your medical expenses and lost wages.

How will I pay attorney’s fees?

We handle motor vehicle accidents and all other personal injury cases on a contingency fee basis. This means that you do not own us any legal fee unless we recover money for you.

What about costs and expenses of a lawsuit?

Filing a lawsuit can be very expensive. In addition to filing fees, many cases require fees for experts and investigators and costs of depositions. After a serious injury, most people cannot afford these costs. We advance these costs so that our clients will get the expert assistance that they need to maximize recovery on their personal injury claims.

Will I speak with a lawyer if I call?

Yes, if you call for a free consultation, you will meet with me personally. My calls are not screened by staff members. I will do my best to speak with you right away. I believe that it is important for you to know who I am when you are selecting any attorney.

How do I know if I have a good case?

Take advantage of our free consultation. The best way to determine whether you have a good case is to sit down with us to discuss the facts of the accident and the nature of your injuries. We will then give you our honest assessment based upon our experience as personal injury lawyers.

How much is my case worth?

In any personal injury case, the value of your claim depends on several factors. These factors include the severity of your physical injury, the duration of your symptoms, any scarring or disfigurement that results, any lost wages or lost earning capacity, and any impairment to any activities of daily living which you may experience. We will work with you to maximize the amount you recover in compensation for your injuries.

Will I have to go to trial?

The vast majority of personal injury cases are settled and do not go to trial. However, every cases we handle is prepared as if there will be a trial. We do this both to gather all the facts necessary to maximize settlement and to be ready to try the case if the insurance company is not willing to provide you with a fair payment.

What types of cases do you handle?

We handle all kinds of personal injury cases, including car accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, bicycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, construction accidents, premises liability, slip-and-fall accidents, nursing home abuse and negligence, dog bites, and wrongful death cases.
